Anti-C27: All claims paired with bash evidence.
What v0.5 Is
v0.5 is the name for the intermediate build where ouroboros_infinity.py was added —
Stephen's ∞-loop directive given full implementation. It sits between:
- v0: 75 tests,
hello_brain.py, v0 codex_root, receipt chain only - v1 (r0513): 243 tests, all 8 new modules, inner agents, source-chain receipt
v0.5 was not tagged independently. The additions are tracked here.
Stephen's Directive (verbatim)
"i believe an amazing loop running like an infinite sign in the brain could be the answer
add the codex tail of the, in there and then whatever else you recommend
look at all my thesis instill the brain wire our brain with it all but never stop"
What Was Added: ouroboros_infinity.py

Key classes and functions
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
LoopState |
Pydantic model — serializable snapshot of loop state |
CycleHead |
Immutable head record — what seeds each cycle |
CycleTail |
Immutable tail record — what each cycle produces |
LoopController |
The ∞-loop engine — tick(), meditate_n_cycles() |
build_thesis_corpus |
Loads field_meditation corpus or uses synthetic F1–F15 |
meditate_n_cycles |
Module-level convenience wrapper |
The ∞-loop structure
current_head ──► tick() ──► CycleTail(tail_hash, receipt, eval_result, ...)
│
└──► next current_head = sha256(tail_hash + prev_head)
(the tail feeds the next head)
This is the Ouroboros: the serpent eating its own tail. Every cycle's output becomes the next cycle's input. The codex tail (tail_hash = codex_root of that session's receipts) is folded in directly.
Two lobes
Cycles alternate between CW (clockwise) and CCW (counterclockwise) lobes — matching the ∞ sign. CW = Perceiver, Predictor. CCW = Dreamer, Rememberer. Crossing = Proposer, Critic, Arbiter.

Determinism: tail_hash Fix
The critical determinism bug in v0.5 development:
Problem: RAGReceipt.artifact_path stored tempfile paths (/tmp/tmpXXXXX.json).
These differed between process runs → tail_hash was non-deterministic.
Fix: Normalize artifact_path="" when computing tail_hash in ouroboros_infinity.py:
# In CycleTail hash computation:
normalized = receipt.model_copy(update={"artifact_path": ""})
tail_data = canonical_json(normalized.model_dump())
After this fix: 5× replay of agi_brain.py is byte-identical.
Thesis Corpus
build_thesis_corpus() loads from field_meditation/ if present; otherwise generates 15 synthetic entries from F1–F15. The corpus rotates deterministically via corpus_index % len(corpus) — each cycle ruminates on a different thesis formula.
Stephen's entire intellectual system (9-axis doctrine, Merkle receipts, Mamba-2, GRPO, Walrus, EvalGate, tiered autonomy, continuum-hash rail) is thus instilled into every cycle of the loop.
